Saturday Cooking Club for children
Starting 13th July 2024
Woodcote kids kitchen is open to Children aged 6-11 years old who live in Woodcote or it’s surrounding Villages or towns and who are interested in Food preparation and nutrition.
The sessions will be run by a fully qualified Food and Nutrition teacher and DBS staff who work in Schools with Children.
The sessions will be for 1 hour and children will take home what they have prepared in the session to consume at home. Some dishes may require further preparation eg popping in the oven, full storage and instructions will be given.
The purpose of the sessions is to create a fun and nurturing environment where children can learn about food, nutrition and to learn and develop their food preparation skills.
From September 2024 sessions will run 4 weeks in each half term, with sessions booked as a block of 4, discount and booking priority will be given to children who attend any of the trial sessions.

SATURDAY 13th JULY, 2024
Session 1
9:00am - 10:00am
This is for Children with allergies, or those that prefer healthier treats. We will not be using, wheat, egg or dairy products. We cannot guarantee 100% (because the kitchen facilities are public) but we will be trying to make a Gluten, Dairy, and Egg free product for your child to bring home and pop in the oven. This session is not suitable for Children with anaphylactic food allergies.

Session 2
10:30am - 11:30am
In this session, children will be independently learning to make a healthy lunch bag, for them to takeaway and enjoy for their lunch.

Session 3
12:00pm - 1:00pm
Children will be preparing a treat product to pop in the oven when they get home. This will contain ingredients which should be eaten in moderation!

Note:
NB we are not sending home freshly baked goods because of the risks of burning and scalding – these session will be about food preparation and nutrition and aims to help children learn new skills. Children will sent home with food they have prepared, instructions for storing and cooking their creations.
